Saint Gleb was the younger brother of Saint Boris and a Russian prince who, along with his brother, was murdered in the 11th century. Both are the first canonized martyrs of the Russian Church and were killed during a power struggle initiated by their half-brother Sviatopolk. Gleb willingly accepted martyrdom without resistance, demonstrating his Christian humility and devotion.
Gleb is the patron saint of martyrs and peacemakers. He is revered for his willingness to reject violence and vengeance, even in the face of death. Many believers seek his intercession when they desire peace and reconciliation in their lives.
The feast day of Saint Gleb is celebrated on July 24 (Julian calendar) or August 6 (Gregorian calendar), together with his brother Boris. They are central figures in the Russian Church, highly esteemed for their peaceful death and witness to the faith.
