Saint Victor of Rome was a soldier in the Roman army who suffered martyrdom during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Maximian in the 3rd century. As a Christian, Victor refused to participate in pagan sacrifices, which led to his torture and eventual execution. His loyalty to Christ and unwavering testimony made him one of the well-known martyrs of the early Church.
Victor is the patron saint of soldiers and is often invoked by believers serving in the military or facing trials of faith. He stands as a symbol of courage and steadfastness in belief.
His feast day on November 11 (Julian calendar), November 24 (Gregorian calendar) is celebrated in the Orthodox Church with prayers and memorial services. On this day, many soldiers pray to him for protection and guidance in their service.
